Ridge Road Gables is a quietly modern take on the gabled houses that line Rutherford’s tree-shaded streets. Two crisp, stucco volumes bookend a symmetrical façade; their steep rooflines and narrow vertical openings nod to Tudor antecedents while pared-back detailing, black window frames, and standing-seam metal accents keep the composition unmistakably contemporary.

A low porte-cochère steps the house back from the street and creates a gracious drive court to the garage, tempering scale and offering a sheltered arrival. Along the garden side, a deep, covered loggia becomes the home’s outdoor living room. Bluestone paving, a herringbone-lined fireplace, and a warm cedar plank ceiling make the terrace usable spring through late fall, blurring the threshold between interior life and landscape.

Materially, the palette is disciplined: hand-troweled stucco, dark metal, and select wood accents for warmth. Slender eaves, recessed trim, and carefully proportioned window groupings give the elevations their calm, ordered rhythm. The result is a house that feels rooted to its block yet edited for modern family life—classic in outline, contemporary in attitude, and designed to age gracefully.
